Between the lines posted Tuesday, August 24, 2004 Well there was another rodeo type gathering slash drinking fest during the weekend. I'm really getting sick of being in the midst of nowhere. I've misplaced my cold weather jacket. I hope whoever picks me up from Pearson airport is kind enough to bring a Canadian parka and a tuque. I'm about, one more important lost article and a machine gun away from taking out the whole farm. Crap! Where'd I put my special pen? I'M ABOUT TO EXPL... oh wait there it is.
I feel like I'm in a tiny box and can't get out. Even if this tiny box is a 600,000 acre farm. Without wheels I'm a pretty bird in molasses, a grasshopper in water. Completely "rooted". Late in the season there's less work while they continue to hire more backpackers that leaves me dropped off in the middle of a field with 30 mins of work and an hour to wait for a ride back to the shed 8 kms away. Although many people around here understand why he'd want to ditch me. Let that be, I can't work in a place where I sweep the floor and clean the same vehicles twice a day simple to occupy myself. I'm outta here.

Eskimos in igloos, winter year round
In a country called Canadia.
Moose and polar bear frequent the streets of town
In a place called Canadia
Friends and family anticipate my arrival
In a place called Canada
I miss the familiar places, the heartwarming faces
I miss the loonie and the multicolored toonie.
The hockey team with blue and white socks
Cuz it's not who wins, but who has the most time in the box.
Oz can keep their game of balls and wickets
when it's played, all I hear are the crickets
I miss my own bed and a clean fridge
Give me back the DVP, you can keep the harbor bridge
Give me a two-four of Molson, give me lots
Don't bother with a slab, midis, schooners or even pots.
It's back to making fun of Americans and Newfies
Instead of razzing Americans and Kiwis
Bryan Adams, Avril Lavign and Celine Dion is what I fear
I still don't feel at home listening to Shania Twain over here
Keep the pesky possums, but the wallabies I love
Bring me back close to you and the raccoons above.
