Neck is getting pretty red! posted Tuesday, July 13, 2004 Yeehah! For a week now there hasn't been a cloud in the sky. Very interesting living on a farm. True facts are, very elegant meals are prepared, all except brekie. Spaghetti-o's and left over veggies and roast are often served. I do get a private bedroom which is a big change from hostel living. Misleading facts are there is no intenet as you can tell from the date of the entry and 50km's away is a pub not a store. 250km's away is the next town, Cloncurry. Cattle and wallaby carcasses litter the roads of the outback as unforgiving road train drivers think of their own safety and mangle the nuisances. Definitely not fun being a passenger of a local, while they drive at night on very familiar single lane roads at 120km/h dodging livestock. Back at the farm we grow corn for feed to raise the 8000 some cattle. After a few days I learned what kind of education needed to drive these tractors, none. But it beats hard labour. Although I don't quite fit into the country life with my surfers necklace, white shirts and $2 straw hat. The other day I was invited to a national rodeo nearby in Mount Isa. Should be fun. Even thinking of entering. Wish me luck.
