Coaffs Harbour posted Tuesday, February 03, 2004 I completed the first leg of my eastern coast road trip. Sharing a car with 3 strangers. A chick from Edmonton another from England. Crispin is the blokes name whose drivin'. From England as well. Kinda a cool name I figure. Very posh I'm told. After getting a little lost and doing a giant sightseeing detour, we arrived at Coaffs harbour in 11hours. Our detour consisted of about 60 KM of choppy, crappy dirt road, 10 bouncy Kangaroos and a beautiful 200M waterfall. The two brits opted for a hostel while us Canadians squeezed pennies and set up a tent for half the price as the hostel. The car ride was scary at times, driving on the wrong side of the road the whole time, eesh. The weather cooperated so far. One thing that many people told me is to buy a pair of "thongs"(flip-flops) I didn't find my feet getting overly heated and I don't think men should where them, they look rather fruity. But I suppose if everyone is doing it, then I wouldn't stand out. Before I left I lost a sandle, having an excuse I broke down and spent $1.50 on a pair of thongs. To my surprise I'm beginning to fancy them. Haven't even had my first blister yet. I have though worn them with socks, hehe. I think soon I'll have a page that adds up the things that I've lost. Thankfully nothing has been stolen but I"ve missed placed a few things, before ya jump to conclutions not each story, begins with "one night I was drinkin" Looks like it's time hit the beach, explore this town, then polish off a cask of wine. I think the travelers motto is save money elsewhere, then spend it on booze.
