Aminals, I mean Animals everywhere. posted Sunday, January 18, 2004 Stumbled upon a big 220 Hectare park today, designated for biking and inline skaters. Did some Rollerblading for the second time. Since I carried my 10lbs Rollerblades with me on my backpacking excursion its important I get to use them as often as possible or else I'm better to dump them so they don't weigh down anymore. The park wasn't as fancy as I expected but it did gather a few interesting animals I saw for the first time.
I also went to the Aquarium in Sydney some time ago, seems I forgot to tell you all about it, but I have pictures which is the important part, since that is what reminded me. Many of these fish you can see in your local fish store. The really big fish I did get pics of. The shark tank had two underwater tunnels. They were mixed with the stingrays, tortoises and other weird looking sharks. There was a sealion tank, no big deal, although they seemed to be hiding anyway. I did see nemo, safely stowed away in some big fishes mouth. All the other nemos were really small and hiding. There were many colorful starfish to poke and some giant lobsters that I chose not to poke. Many large Prawns. First time I've seen them alive. They sell them everywhere from supermarkets to seafood shops. By the way I'm told to tell you not to say "Let's throw another shrimp on the barbie." anymore. They don't call them shrimp and they don't BBQ them. They sure love their seafood and asian food.
I may be having a BBQ tonight, which reminds me of a funny story dated way back to the weekend of the big blackout of the eastern seaboard. I was travelling up to town near Ottawa with some friends. To their surprise I had prepared a special supper. 2 days prior I had bought a few cheap rib eye steaks, spiced them up, and carefully wrapped them up in tin foil 3 seperate times. The reason I did all this was because for the last couple years I've been dying to cook a steak on the engine of my car. I found it hard to remember to prepare before a car trip that was long enough. I measured the clearence between the engine block and the hood with a ball of tin foil. Then with these delicately wrapped steaks(to ensure no juice leaks out) I ensured they were tighly squeezed under the hood of my V6 Pontiac Grand AM. About 2 hours later with light traffic or 130KM later I pulled over for a pit stop and to my surprise something caught the attention of my nose. "Smells good, I wish I were at that barbeque" I exclaimed. "Hey wait, that's me" Popped my hood only to find there was no need of flipping these deliciously well done steaks. I pulled out a few plastic cutlery and some paper plates only to taste the best engine cooked food ever.
