First Apartment posted Saturday, January 17, 2004 Just moved into a friends flat a couple days ago. Someone I met in Toronto before we both started out our seperate journeys to this beautiful land somewhere under. She lives with her Aussie boyfriend, nice guy. I was finally able to buy real food and build a sandwich. I don't build sandwiches or buy perishable food while living in hostels since I rarely have stayed in one place for more then a few days. Adding food to my pack to carry to the next fridge isn't my cup of tea. I am beginning to learn how to live out of my backpack. I'd even call that a talent. So I am a guest here but haven't earned my own key. I kinda have to work around their schedule or just follow them around all day. Painful but fair. Perks are, free internet, with background nagging from the "Sheila". What some call the female version of "mate". They haven't so far excepted money from me yet for sleeping here either. Since it's their first apartment I'm sitting on my ass on the bare floor without furniture. They've got a bed for themselves and this laptop. Reminds me of my first place. The pull out couch and TV come tomorrow. Better then a hostel, 'cept a key would be convenient.
Yesterday I went to a Dirt bike Super cross at the Sydney Olympic park. Same place they held the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Went with a friend, we had time to look around. Twent to the Aquatic center where they did their laps and diving. Half has been trasformed into a giant kids water park. The tennis dome was busy with some International event, same with another large dome with a silly game of cricket. I know, it's only silly because I don't know how to play. Got to play some mini golf at the golf dome. I think my score was 120. The higher the score the better right. I had to fend my green from little kids who thought they could sneak in from the driving range with their 1 woods and 5 irons. Since I paid and they didn't I felt that it was my duty to prove my putter could hit further shots then their clubs.
It was time for the big event. Front row, center. Right in front of the finish jump, I don't know how we landed such good seats but I was able to catch a few memory capturing clumps of dirt. Although I wasn't aloud on the train with it. The action was non stop. bikes landing on top of each other, people being dragged off on stretchers. The only thing that could be better is peace on earth, so to substitute we have to have fun at others expense. Later I bumped into an archery park. Another thing I've wanted to do again since my first time at the age of 10. I didn't bring my camera on this escapade though. What was I thinking?
